We would never force a visitor to your site watch a video, an animation or a flash file on the home page. That would be the surest way of turning her off. Instead we will leave the decision handle with her. She would know instinctively by looking at your design, whether she wants a video tutorial on your service or would rather prefer to quietly read the text.

Design should never take this decision power away the visitor. If its obtrusive, irritating or takes ages to stream, it’s really no good, no matter how many hours of hard work you may have put in it to make it look good.
